Some say Chimichurri (or "Chimi" for the friends) comes from Basque’s tximitxurri, interpreted as "a mix of several things in no special order". Others claim the name comes from "Jimmy’s curry", Jimmy, being an Englishman who joined the fight for Argentine Independence. The name then morphed locally into "Chimichurri".
